Dumplings is a movie that is not for those who have a sensitivity for icky, yucky and gory films. Although it's marked as a horror film, it's more of a macabre film. I myself, being a gore-lover, am usually immune to bloody moments and the such but this specific movie had the ability to make me cover my eyes. But, call me crazy, some scenes kiiiinda made me hungry. The dumplings really looked pretty yummy (if you didn't think about what it's really made of). Well, lucky for me, I watched the movie the day my yaya decided to cook dumplings (what a wonderful coincidence.) Fortunately, i was able to eat some but for many watchers will never eat another dumpling in their entire life again. But for those who can stomach
Set in the city of Hon Kong, Mrs. Li, a former soar opera star is struggling with her relationship with her husband who was having an affair with the hotel maid. And the former star would do anything within her grasp to win him back through her beauty. She decided to visit aunt Mei who was known for her youth-restoring dumplings. Little did she know, aunt Mei's little confections had a horrifying secret ingredient.
In my opinion, the movie was rather enjoying to watch. It shows you how far some women go for beauty. It also had a sense of mystery, making you wonder what would happen next. It really keeps you glued to to the screen, except for those parts when you feel like your stomach is about to turn over, so get ready with some pillows and some water…. I think it's best to skip the popcorn and chips while watching this movie. Believe me.
So, Have fun watching! Bon Apetit!
